Ward Development Grants

Cllr Julie Adams has chosen to use hers to continue to support the valuable work of Ma Kelly’s Kitchen, who are helping elderly and vulnerable people across the Town with food parcels. Keighley Town Council partnered with Ma Kelly’s over Christmas to help them deliver to over 200 residents. Cllr Adams says ‘I was delighted to contribute my ward fund to such a worthy cause, these ladies work tirelessly to ensure that our elderly residents are not forgotten!’

Cllr Abdul Shohid is supporting spending his fund in Lawkholme and Showfield to replace 2 benches and install a bin on Back Plover Street. Residents work hard to keep the area tidy, but the provision of a litter bin will help support their work. The benches currently in situ are a great asset, but are in need of some love.

Cllrs Luke Maunsell and Mark Curtis are supporting the purchase of gardening equipment for the community in Oakworth. This will be available for everyone to use and managed by Friends of Holden Park. Cllr Maunsell said: ‘Cllr Curtis and I are always on the lookout for projects to support the community we are proud to serve. Oakworth has many hard grafters who spend a great deal of time stepping up to make the village a wonderful place to live. This equipment will support their efforts, as well as our own, and we can’t thank our colleagues enough for enabling this work to go ahead’.
