St Georges Day

Keighley Town Council hosted a virtual St George’s Day over the weekend via their Facebook Page to celebrate this annual event.

Live entertainment, music and sessions were kindly hosted by local businesses and people to bring free entertainment to the people of Keighley.

Town Mayor Cllr Peter Corkindale said:

To celebrate St George’s Day, this year we took our celebrations online and provided free entertainment for the people of Keighley via our social media pages. We would like to thank Bradford Libraries, children’s entertainers Jingjangjoojong, Keighley and District Local History Society, Local poets Jem Stuart and Jim Saville, Video Mic Night -TV and all the amazing bands that took part in the live mic night. We hope to bring you the next St George’s Day in person’.

Keighley Town Council also ran two colouring competitions. Schools in Keighley were invited to enter by designing their own crown. The winners of the competition were St Joseph’s Primary School, Apple Class. The other competition was to design your own shield and was open to all children in Keighley. The winners were announced on the Keighley Town Council Facebook Page. The winner and runners up won vouchers for Fletchers Art, Print and Stationery shop in Keighley.
