Planters

Keighley Town Councils Knowle Park Planters Project.

Local volunteers from the Knowle Park community recently proved that you can still observe social distancing rules whilst working together for the benefit of the community. The Project is the brainchild of Councillor Nasar Ali and was paid for by Keighley Town Council’s Ward Development Fund.

As well as negotiating permission to plant the planters, Keighley Town Council have secured a commitment from Bradford District Council’s highways department to carry out future essential repairs and maintenance.

A varied collection of easy-care ornamental shrubs and herbs were obtained from local landscape gardener Steve Thorpe who was also commissioned to advise on the ground preparation and planting of the scheme.

Councillor Ali said,

“After listening to local residents, I decided we should do something about these planters. Thanks to the efforts of local volunteers we have begun to make the ward look nice again for the people. This is just the beginning of my commitment to improving the local environment. I am hoping this project will encourage others to look after their own neighbourhood. As a Town Councillor I think it is important to get involved and support the efforts of local people and develop pride in the community. So once local restrictions are lifted, I am hoping we will be able to run a full programme of community projects and events in my ward.”

Councillor Ali went on to congratulate all those involved for a job well done.
