On Friday 11 March 2022, Town Mayor Cllr Julie Adams hosted the Mayor’s Civic Dinner at the Keighley Civic Centre. The evening saw over 80 guests attend the black tie dinner to raise funds for the Mayor’s Charitable Trust, which this year is supporting Sue Ryder Manorlands and Martin House Hospice.
Guests were welcomed by a champagne reception and then entertainment by award winning magician Andrew Dean who wowed guests at their tables. Following a three course meal, local singer Hayley Harrison treated the guests to a mixture of love songs and Motown.
An auction and raffle were held which saw prizes being bid for such as a signed Keighley Cougars shirt, a bottle of House of Commons Gin signed by the Prime Minister and a print of Captain Sir Tom Moore, signed by Captain Tom. Over £2,300 was raised on the evening from the auction and raffle.
Representatives from Sue Ryder Manorlands and Martin House Hospice delivered a speech on the work of their hospices and why funds are needed now more than ever.
Town Mayor Cllr Julie Adams said ‘It was an honour to host the 2022 Mayor’s Civic Dinner. It was wonderful to see so many local businesses and Mayors coming together to raise money for the Mayor’s Charitable Trust and we are delighted to have raised so much money for the charities.’
Chris Verney, Regional Fundraiser for Martin House said:
‘Town Mayor, Councillor Julie Adams is a valued friend of Martin House, and we are so grateful for her continued support and commitment to us. We’re so pleased that the Civic Dinner was such a success and has raised this amazing amount of money. This money will help us to continue providing specialist care to seriously ill babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions in Keighley and across the region.’
Liv Moffat, Community Fundraiser for Sue Ryder Manorlands said:
‘Thank you so much to the Keighley Town Mayor for inviting Sarah Bottomley, Hospice Director & Sue Taylor Ward Manager along to the Civic Dinner to represent Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice. We are so grateful to have been chosen as her charity of the year and the support we have been given will allow us to be there when it matters. Whether in a person’s home or in our hospices, our specialist teams pull out all the stops to provide the expert care someone needs, allowing final days to be filled with cherished memories and love.’
Special thanks goes to Barrett’s Kitchen for the catering, Andrew Dean, Hayley Harrison and all of the businesses who donated auction and raffle prizes.
