Keighley blossoms in the Yorkshire in Bloom Awards

Keighley Civic Centre, which was entered in the competition for the first time, collected a silver gilt award.

And Town Hall Square once again earned a platinum award.

A Keighley Town Council spokesperson says: “For the civic centre to achieve silver gilt on its debut in the awards scheme – despite ongoing maintenance being carried out on the railings – is a remarkable achievement which highlights the hard work and dedication of all involved.

“The judges were hugely impressed by Town Hall Square, noting its beauty and creativity. And they were particularly taken by the flowerbeds, which made touching references to the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, artfully incorporated into the displays.

“Special thanks go to Steve Thorpe & Son Gardening, whose expertise and commitment to planting and maintaining the town centre’s vibrant floral displays played a key role in securing these awards. Their hard work has been instrumental in ensuring that public spaces remain a source of pride for residents and visitors alike.”

Town mayor, Councillor Gulfraz Hussain, said he was delighted with the awards success.

He added: “We are thrilled with the recognition received at this year’s Yorkshire in Bloom Awards.”

“I would like to add my thanks to Steve Thorpe & Son Gardening for their tireless efforts in creating and maintaining such beautiful displays. Their work has truly brought the town to life, and this success belongs to them as much as it does to the wider Keighley community.”

“And also, thanks go to the hardworking team at the Keighley Town Council office for the organisation and effort it put into Keighley’s entry.”
