Sad passing of former Councillor David Miller    18 October, 2018

The Town Council was sad to here of the passing of former Councillor Mr David Miller on the 15th of October 2018, David served on the Council from its creation 2002 until 2011 when he left to spend time with his wife Kathleen.

David was not just a great councillor he was also a great man and will be sadly missed by many, many people he represented Morton and Sandbeds on the council and was also well respected member of Morton village society.

Cllr Mick Westerman

One of the nicest people you could wish to meet, David will be remembered for his calm and caring personality, he was defiantly one of the good people of our town and a genuine gentleman he will be sadly missed.

Cllr Brian Morris

I am sad to here of the passing of David. He had a strong moral compass and always did things selflessly and for the right reasons. He was the keeper of the council’s conscience and I don’t think any of our colleagues ever had a single criticism of his actions words or behaviour. This is a sad loss to East Morton and the wider community.

Former Mayor and Councillor Tony Wright

I am so sad to hear of the death of David, a true gentleman and true leader, I always looked up to David in my early years as a councillor, I learnt so much from him which I was able to use and further develop my own career as a councillor and future mayor of keighley, R I P David gone but never forgotten.

Former Mayor and Councillor George Metcalfe

I am very saddened to hear of the death of former friend, colleague and Town Councillor David Miller.  David was a lovely man, a committed Christian and very caring councillor.  I remember him as a thoroughly conscientious Chair of the Planning Committee, always calm, scrupulously fair in his arguments and decisions, always prepared to see both sides of a debate.  He showed mild frustration and exasperation only at those whom he felt were using the Council to their own advantage, but he always rose above the fray and did the very best for his Ward and his Town.  David, you bore the heat and burden of the day, now rest in God’s holy peace.

Graham Mitchell Town Mayor 2006/07 and 2014/15.
