   Yorkshire Day 2018    1 August, 2018

Deputy Town Mayor of Keighley, Councillor Peter Corkindale, attended the event and to the amusement of all was seen being driven around the town by a horse drawn carriage owned by local Butcher and Councillor Chris Herd.

Local residents made the best of a good day in the summer sun on the green with the youngsters taking part in all kinds of activities, popular attractions were the inflatable slide and what I can only describe as a bungee trampoline.

Another popular attraction was the face painters transforming our younger visitors into a look of their choice. More Lions and Tigers stalked the green that day than people obviously the ice cream van had its admirers, burgers a plenty were consumed by all the hungry entertainers and residents, one of the highlights of the afternoon was the dance group Charlie’s School of Dance who performed as individuals showing off their personal skills and in varying group sizes their performance was a credit to their instructor.

Hats off to Keighley Town Council’s Events and Leisure Committee, they have done the town a great service by showing exactly what can be done for the community even in times of austerity, it’s not hard to make someone smile, this event did exactly what it says on the tin well done to all concerned and we look forward to next year.
